Building refurbishment, renovation and extension to transform an old library space into a modern community hub.

We undertook a renovation and total refurbishment project to create the Lighthouse Support Centre in Tillydrone.

The Lighthouse centre forms a new community hub in the heart of Tillydrone in partnership with Donside Community Church. The following new facilities will be provided as part of the project:

  • Main Hall meeting space that holds 250 people
  • Fully equipped cafĂ© and kitchen with coffee bar
  • Classroom sized meeting spaces for various use
  • 2 no. small counselling rooms for confidential conversations with facility users
  • Creche facility
  • Community support facilities such as laundry and food bank

For this complex and challenging project we transformed the run down library space into a modern community hub that caters to a wide variety of groups in just 6 months.

Recently, the project has seen success at various construction awards, recieving highly commended awards at both the Aberdeen Association of Architects awards dinner and at the Aberdeen Trades Awards 2025.
