The Executive Board


Hugh is a graduate Civil Engineer and returned to CHAP in 2000 after several years working and studying overseas. He is Joint Managing Director of CHAP Group and a director of CHAP Holdings. Hugh completed his MBA in 2005, is a past director of CECA (Scotland) and a member of the Young President’s Organisation. Hugh has executive responsibility for the Civil Engineering and Quarries divisions.

Douglas is a Chartered Civil Engineer and has worked on heavy civil engineering projects across the UK. He joined CHAP in 2001 and is Joint Managing Director of CHAP Group and a director of CHAP Holdings. Douglas is currently President of the Scottish Building Federation and has executive responsibility for the Construction, Homes and Development divisions.

Shona has over 25 years experience at a senior financial level within the Public Sector, Manufacturing and latterly Oil & Gas Industries. Shona recently held the role of Regional Financial Controller for Europe, Middle East and Africa for a Subsea Company and joined the CHAP Group in January 2016 as Financial Director.

Iain is a graduate Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the Construction and House Building Industry. Iain joined the CHAP Group in 2014 as Homes Director.

Doug joined CHAP in 1981 as Plant and Transport Manager having gained extensive practical experience working with motor vehicles and heavy plant following completion of his formal education. Doug has been Plant and Quarries Director since 1990. Doug recently reduced his working week to 2 days a week and is focusing exclusively on CHAP Quarries going forward.

Jim is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. A graduate of Strathclyde University, he has over 36 years experience in the industry. Jim joined CHAP in 2007 and looks after the Construction division’s building operations, and is President of the Aberdeen Association of Civil Engineers and a director of Grampian Construction Training Ltd.

Malcolm is a QS graduate from Robert Gordon’s University and has over 23 years commercial construction and management experience, previously with Mansell Construction and Balfour Beatty. He joined the CHAP Group team in January 2013 as Construction Commercial Director.

Vince joined CHAP Quarries in 1991 having previously worked for a U.K. multinational heavy side construction material supplier, over a range of functions including; production, technical and commercial. As Quarries Director, he is responsible for CHAP’s quarrying and ready mixed concrete/mortar operations and has extensive product knowledge built over 37 years in the industry.
